Two teens arrested for suspicious Harrison Twp fire

House fire on El Paso Avenue in Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Authorities say two teens are under arrest for their roles in a vacant house fire in Harrison Township.

Firefighters say arson is the likely cause of the fire at a house in the 3700 block of El Paso Avenue.

Crews responded to the fire just before 11 a.m. on Thursday.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a house.

Harrison Twp Battalion Chief Sean McNeil says it took crews some time to connect to a hydrant. Once a connection was established, McNeil says crews put out the fire quickly.

McNeil says the house was reported as abandoned, so firefighters remained outside and fought the fire defensively. No one was believed to be inside.

Neighbors told firefighters the house has become a center for drug activity, with people coming and going and drug paraphernalia being found around the house. Firefighters say there hadn’t been power at the house since 2013.

There are no initial reports of injuries.

A fire investigator was called to the scene to investigate. The fire is considered suspicious. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
