Driver killed in Preble County accident identified

WEST ELKTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The person killed in an accident Monday in Preble County near West Elkton has been identified.

The Preble County Sheriff said Thursday the man killed was 58-year0old Gregory Lavallo from Arcanum.

Lavallo was killed Monday afternoon in a car accident near West Elkton in Preble County.

The accident happened around 2:45 Monday afternoon on SR-503 north of the village of West Elkton.

Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said it appeared Lavallo crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a car driven by a high-school student. That student was taken to Kettering Medical Center by MedFlight with non-life threatening injuries.

Lavallo died at the scene.

Sheriff Simpson says an autopsy was performed Tuesday. The identity was made using dental records, according to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

SR-503 was closed for about 2 and a half hours while deputies investigated the crash.
