High speed chase ends in Huber Heights, 3 juveniles in custody

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio – Three juveniles between the ages of 12-17 are in custody after leading troopers on a high speed chase through Miami and Montgomery counties.

Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a minivan on Ohio 202 near Interstate 70 in Huber Heights after 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

Troopers were able to get beside the van as the chase entered an off ramp and forced the van into the grass.

The chase started on 1-75 south between Piqua and Troy when a concerned driver called police on an erratic driver.

Sgt. David Robinson says troopers tried to pull the minivan over but the driver speed up.

Troopers say speeds got up to 100 miles per hour during the chase. They also say no one was hurt and no vehicles were damaged.

After placing the three juveniles under arrest, troopers discovered the van was stolen from Sidney.

Sgt. Robinson says the teens will be charged in Miami County and face charges of fleeing and vehicle theft.
