XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) –  Xenia Police are calling the death of a  woman found unconscious inside a home on East Church Street near Patton Street “suspicious.”

Detectives identified the woman as Stephanie Moore, 41, of Xenia.

Xenia investigators told 2 NEWS it’s unclear how she died, because there were no obvious signs of what may have caused her death and are not calling it a homicide.

“We’re going to call this a suspicious death at this point. We have nothing to lead us to believe it is a homicide or isn’t a homicide so at this point we’re going to be calling it suspicious,” Xenia Police Captain Alonzo Wilson said.

The man who lives in the home told police he returned to the residence and found the woman unconscious around 4:30 PM Tuesday. Investigators confirmed the two were acquainted, but did not say how they knew each other.

“We’re going to take our time and make sure we do things right. Often times you can’t go back and get the evidence later, so so we’re basically just going to dot our I(s) and crossing our T(s) and making sure about what we have here,” Wilson said.

An autopsy was performed, according to the Greene County Coroner’s office, but it could take six to eight weeks for the toxicology report to determine her cause of death. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
