Police: Homemade explosive found near Dayton home

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local police department started to serve a search warrant in a Dayton Monday until they found a suspicious package.

According to Kettering Police Officer John Jung, the police department issued a search warrant to two different homes that appeared to be rented out by Jason Hoops who was shot by police Sunday.

According to Regional Dispatch, The Kettering Police Department called Dayton Police Bomb Squad around 10:50 a.m. Monday after they found a suspicious package Officer Jung said ‘”looked like a homemade explosive.”

The Dayton Bomb Squad dismantled the ‘homemade explosive’ and the Kettering Police Department now has it as evidence for an investigation.
