TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) — The Montgomery County Coroner has identified the woman killed in a three-vehicle crash in Trotwood.
64-year-old Theresa Abell from Dayton died in the crash.
According to Trotwood Police Chief Erik Wilson, the crash happened on Salem Avenue, which is also Route 49, near East Westbrook Road around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Three cars were involved in the crash. According to Wilson, a car traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on Salem Avenue rear-ended another car heading southbound. That’s when one of those cars crossed the median and struck a third car traveling northbound on Salem Avenue, Wilson said.
Two cars drove off the road, including one that went down an embankment.
Abell was killed in the crash, Wilson said. Another person was injured and taken to Miami Valley Hospital, he added. That person’s condition is unknown.
A third person who was involved in the crash spoke with police on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Wilson said.
Police do not yet know if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the crash, but speed is believed to be a factor in what caused the collision, Wilson said.
Salem Avenue was closed in both directions as crews cleared the scene. The road reopened around 11:30 p.m.
