8 people recovered from U.S. Navy Pacific plane

TOKYO (AP) — The U.S. Navy says eight people have been recovered after an aircraft went down in the Pacific Ocean.

Those eight people are reportedly in good condition. The Navy is searching for three other people on board the aircraft when it went down.

The aircraft was on its way to the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan when it crashed..

The Japan-based 7th Fleet says in a statement that the search and rescue operation has been launched from the carrier.

It says the C-2 “Greyhound” transport plane was operating in the Philippine Sea when the crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. Japan time.

It says the names of the crew and passengers are being withheld pending next of kin notification.
