Jack Pohl

Jack-Pohl320Jack Pohl has been with WDTN-TV since August 1995, and has served as a 2 NEWS Sports Director and Anchor since January 2002.

Pohl, a Dayton native who attended Wright State University, began his broadcasting career at Centerville high school where he began to learn his trade at WCWT.   Jack later moved on to work at various Dayton area radio stations, but is best known for his time as the Z-93 morning show  personality with Kim Faris.

Jack moved from radio to television after getting hired by WDTN to report and achor.

Jack is proud to have learned the TV business from WDTN’s legendary Omar Williams.

Over the last 20 plus years Jack has covered the area’s biggest sporting events for 2 NEWS, Including the Dayton Flyers NCAA tournament runs, Ohio State’s national championships in football, Bengals and Reds playoffs and winter Olympic coverage from the U.S. winter Olympic training facility in Park City, Utah.  Jack also served as the play by play announcer for Wright State University basketball on WDTN and Dayton’s CW.

Jack enjoys covering all sports and the athletes who play them.  Jack says “Athletes provide great inspiration, win or lose their heart and passion for the sport is simply amazing.”

Jack has a great passion for  high school sports where he serves as host (with Hutch Konerman) and producer of Operation Football and Operation Basketball.  Jack has been a the host of the Penn Station Athlete of the Month program for over 10 years, and has followed some athletes from high school, through college and all the way to the pro’s.

Jack was honored with the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Sportsmanship and Ethics Integrity Media service award.

The O-H-S-A-A recognizing Channel 2’s longtime sports director for his contributions, coverage, and service to high school athletics here in the Southwest District.

Jack enjoys skiing, biking, good food and loves to make people smile and laugh.  He lives in Dayton and has 2 kids and has been blessed with 4 grand children.
