Snow and gusty winds today

Snow is hitting the area right at the peak of the rush hour.  Many schools have delayed and even cancelled.  Here’s a link to get the full list

We have a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the entire area until 3 p.m.

Win wx advisory

Roads are becoming snow covered and hazardous.  While most of the Miami Valley will only see 1 to 2 inches of snow, there may be some spots that pick up 3 inches.

Snowfall forecast

While the amount of snow isn’t much the wind is making it very difficult.  Winds have already gusted around 35 m.p.h. this morning and they will continue to be gusty all day long.  These winds are blowing and drifting snow around reducing visibility.

Even salt trucks are having some issues this morning.  Thanks to Debbie for sending us this photo from Dog Leg Road in Northern Montgomery County.

We may get a little bit of a break this morning but there’s another batch of snow just to the west of Dayton. You can track the snow by looking at the radar here

The snow ends later this afternoon and then the cold air moves into the area.  Lows tonight will be in the single digits and by early Wednesday morning wind chill values will be below zero.

Stay warm!
