The big ultrasound – 20 weeks

Today was the big ultrasound! I was so excited going in but also nervous. This is the one where they do all the measurements to see if baby is on track. In my previous pregnancies this was always the ultrasound where we got to find out if the baby was a boy or girl. Obviously we know it’s girl so I didn’t have that to look forward to but I was just excited to see her! They say you feel fetal movement earlier with subsequent pregnancies and that’s certainly the case with baby girl. She moves ALL THE TIME and when they put her picture on the screen in the doctor’s office she proved to be one active gal! I am so happy to report that my doctor says everything appears to be right on track. I know for some, the 20 week ultrasound doesn’t end this way and so I consider myself extremely lucky to have a healthy growing baby (that’s kicking A LOT!)

An update on how I’m feeling … still a little yucky. I’ve been taking anti-nausea medication, that’s safe for baby, along with a heartburn remedy. I take all of that religiously or I can barely get through my day. I can never get enough to eat and so I am trying to eat a lot of lean meats, fruits and vegetables. That belief that the energy comes back in the second trimester … hasn’t exactly happened for me, but that could be because I have a full time job and two other kids at home!

Mostly, I count my blessings day in and day out to be able to carry a healthy baby girl.
